Camel Antibody Library Construction by Phage DisplayCamel antibodies are used in many forms of research, including protein structure studies, high-resolution imaging applications, drug delivery, and virus detection and neutralization. Due to their small size, these antibodies can detect epitopes that are more difficult to reach than conventional antibodies. Antibody phage display can be selected by in vitro affinity that occurs in a fully controllable biochemical environment, and it can also bypass some of the limitations of the immune system. For example, phage display can provide antibodies that are not available in classical immunity, such as antibodies against very small or non-immunogenic molecules. The special advantage of controlling biochemical parameters at the moment of selection can also be used to shape the specific characteristics of antibodies from the beginning. By adding a soluble competitor during the affinity selection process of the immobilized antigen, unwanted cross-reactions can be eliminated. Using this method, antibodies that are specific for slight modifications of the antigen, such as a single functional group or site-specific phosphorylation, can be selected. By adding cofactors to induce a certain allosteric conformation of the antigen, conformation-specific antibodies can be obtained.
