At present, phage display library technology is widely used to detect the interaction between the host and the pathogen, the development of disease diagnostic markers, and the identification of candidate vaccines and new antibodies against pathogen targets. Phage display libraries can be constructed and screened using any display system to obtain the most promising conjugates that exhibit the strongest affinity for target molecules/pathogens for diagnosis and immunotherapy. Cell surface antigens in pathogens as molecular binding sites are suitable targets for vaccine development because these antigens can affect the bacterial division, replication, and virulence of pathogens. The application of phage display technology in the field of infectious diseases has two completely different strategies: in pathogen-targeted phage display, screening against molecular targets such as cell replicate or host-pathogen virulence factors; and in cell-based screening methods, Using whole bacterial cells as the screening target. Cell-based screening with live pathogens can target natural cell surface proteins. This screening method is suitable for situations where the target antigen is unstable under fixed conditions.
Fig 1. Illustration showing an overview of the processes involved in selection of antibodies by phage display panning. (Bahara N H H, 2013)Phage particles have powerful properties that allow for automation and adaptation. The production of monospecific binding agents provides an important diagnostic tool with lower cost and higher efficiency. Creative Biolabs can provide customers with in vitro diagnostic services according to their different needs.
The success of any phage display experiment that produces high-quality antibodies depends largely on the set of antibodies provided. Creative Biolabs can provide library sizes ranging from 106 to 1010
The selection process from antibodies in vitro is called "panning" for antibody libraries based on target affinity
