Phage Display

2-5-Phage-display-fig1Phage display is a laboratory technique that uses phages to associate proteins with their respective genetic information to study protein-protein, protein-peptide, and protein-DNA interactions. Our phage display service allows the selection ("panning") of recombinant antibody fragments from the antibody gene library and more convenient and more specific screening of individually selected antibody clones. The phage display service uses phage-based display libraries to identify and develop highly specific protein and antibody interactions. In this method, the phage is modified to express the peptide of interest on its surface coating, while retaining the gene sequence of the peptide inside. Thousands of candidate antibody fragments can then be screened to identify the peptide sequence with the greatest binding specificity. Phage display libraries are used for affinity maturation of human antibodies, and the discovery and development of vaccines and antibody drugs.
